Common questions

How does the free trial work?

SumPup is free to download. A grown-up starts a 7-day free trial of everything: all the lands, pets, outfits and cards. Starting it costs nothing. When the trial ends, one purchase unlocks SumPup forever. There is no subscription and nothing renews.

What happens when the trial ends?

Your child sees their pet and “Ask a grown-up to keep playing.” Nothing is lost: every child’s pet, outfits, cards and progress come back as soon as the app is unlocked. A grown-up taps For grown-ups, answers the grown-up check and chooses Unlock.

How do I restore my purchase on a new device?

Use the same Apple ID or Google account you bought with. On the home screen, tap the gear at the top right, answer the grown-up check, then tap Restore purchase. Progress isn’t copied between devices, so a new device starts fresh.

Can more than one child play?

Yes, up to four children per device, each with their own pet, cards and progress. Tap your child’s picture on the home screen to switch. A grown-up adds or removes a child in Settings (the gear, behind the grown-up check).

Can I choose my child’s grade?

You don’t need to. SumPup starts every child at the beginning and moves up on its own as they show they’re ready. Second-grade questions use a number pad for bigger answers.

Does SumPup need the internet?

No. It works fully offline, even in airplane mode. It only goes online when a grown-up starts the trial, buys the app or restores a purchase, and then only to talk to the App Store or Google Play.

My child can’t read yet. Is that OK?

Yes. Every instruction is spoken aloud and shown with pictures, so children never need to read.

Why don’t wrong answers turn red?

We want mistakes to feel safe. Nothing turns red and your child simply tries again. After a second miss, SumPup shows how to work it out. After a third miss it shows the answer and moves on.

How do I remove a child or reset progress?

In Settings (the gear on the home screen, behind the grown-up check), remove a child. That deletes their pet, outfits, cards and progress from the device and can’t be undone. Deleting the app removes everything.

Where is my child’s progress saved?

Only on your device. SumPup has no accounts and collects no data, so progress can’t be moved to another device, and deleting the app deletes it. Your purchase is safe either way and can be restored.

What is the grown-up check?

A multiplication question typed on a number pad, like “What is fourteen times seven?” It keeps Settings, the trial and purchases out of young hands.

How do I turn the music or sounds off?

In Settings, switch Music or Sounds off. The voice stays on because it gives the instructions. Use your device’s volume to quiet everything.

Which devices does SumPup work on?

iPhone, iPad, and Android phones and tablets. Each store page lists the minimum software version your device needs.
